Did You Know About Our Webinars?

Last week we held our Educational Seminar in Tysons Corner, VA. We have gotten many inquiries on when our next seminar dates are for those who could not make it. While the dates are not set in stone, patients are able to attend a recorded Webinar! They are held once every few days, and patients are sent an email reminder of their chosen date and time. This is a recorded session of the physicians at a typical Patient Education Seminar. It includes and overview of the regenerative procedures available at StemCell ARTS such as, Prolotherapy, Platelet Rich Plasma, Platelet Lysate, and Stem Cells. Here, potential patients can also find the answers to many frequently asked questions. Click the link to register yourself for our next Webinar!

TESTIMONIAL TUESDAY!!

Our StemCell ARTS team recently received amazing recognition from Lee, a patient under the care of Dr. Robert H. Wagner in the Tysons Corner, VA office. Lee explains her experience after undergoing Platelet Rich Plasma injections to treat her spine.

“I have been receiving PRP treatments from Dr. Wagner for managing spondylolisthesis over the years, and they have worked very well for me. Thanks to Dr. Wagner, I have been able to lead a normal life and do the activities I love like horseback riding.”

Research Study: Adverse Events with Regenexx Stem Cell Procedures

We often get asked if there are any adverse effects to our stem cell procedures. Like with any medical procedures, there are risks however, we take the utmost precautions to minimize these risks such as careful consideration for sterility and multiple patient identifiers for each personalized sample. Since we are using a patient’s own platelets and stem cells, the risk for adverse reactions are extremely low.

Research Findings

According to a research paper where Dr. Christopher Centeno from Regenexx in Colorado collaborated on, 325 out of 3,012 had reported an adverse reaction. The majority of these reactions were described as post-procedural pain, and pain due to progressive degenerative joint disease. While the post procedural pain is common, pain from joint disease can be expected for patients with severe osteoarthritis. Stem cells, while powerful, are unable to fully halt the progression of arthritis; it simply slows it down. These results were obtained through surveys performed at intervals of 1, 3, 6, and 12 months, and then annually post treatment. Patients were sent automated emails with questions pertaining to pain levels, function, and general health. So while there are a few adverse events, there are no recorded incidences where the stem cell treatment caused any cases of neoplasm, which is an abnormal tissue growth that is a characteristic of cancer.

Yes, there are risks just like there are with any medical procedure, however, the rates of adverse reactions are low compared to the number of procedures performed. Our physicians and staff at StemCell ARTS take the highest precautions to ensure that your treatment with us will be in line with the standard and proven Regenexx protocol.

TESTIMONIAL TUESDAY!

Our StemCell ARTS team recently received amazing recognition from Maria, a patient under the care of Dr. Robert H. Wagner in the Tysons Corner, VA office. Maria explains her experience after undergoing the Stem Cell series of injections to treat knee arthritis.

“I have started taking walks and even joined a line dancing group thanks to your work.  Every now and then I have pain to the point where I slow down and have to take it easy, at least for a day.  With both the right and left knees affected by osteoarthritis I can’t really complain about the mobility that I have at this point on both knees.  I am thankful that I had the injection done in the right knee and the stem cell on the left, both treatments have helped me up to this point.”

Diagnosing Pain with Steroid Injections Before Regenerative Treatments

Diagnosing Pain with Steroid Injections Before Regenerative Treatments

Pinpointing pain can often be a difficult task. When patients come to see our physicians, they have been dealing with their pain for months or even years. Low back pain plagues 31 million Americans at any given time. Platelets and Prolotherapy have been proven in our practice to effectively help treat low back pain. Since these procedures are not yet covered under insurances, our physicians perform diagnostic cortisone injections in order to determine which areas are causing patients pain. If a patient is able to be provided relief from these diagnostic injections, then platelets or prolotherapy will be the next steps. Regenerative treatments are scheduled three to four weeks after any steroid injections. Platelets and prolotherapy aim to create inflammation in order to alert your body to send repair cells to the site. Steroids inhibit inflammation, and therefore, counterintuitive to regenerative treatments.

While we hope that one day, these effective treatments will be accepted and paid for by insurance companies, there is not yet a set timeline. Sometimes one or two cortisone injections are all that it takes to settle down an inflamed nerve. For those with chronic back pain that have exhausted the use of steroids, our regenerative procedures could be your answer.
