Dr. Mayo Friedlis Invited By Chinese University of Hong Kong to Lecture Primary Care Physicians on “The Role of Injection Therapy in Musculoskeletal Intervention” on July 4, 2015
StemCell ARTS, an affiliate of National Spine & Pain Centers, is proud toannounce that Dr. Mayo Friedlis was invited to co-lead the esteemed “CUHK Primary Care Symposium 2015” on July 4, 2015 in Hong Kong, N.T, People’s Republic of China. Dr. Friedlis will present a Plenary Lecture on “Musculoskeletal Intervention of Primary Care Physicians: The Role on Injection Therapy”. His poster presentation intends to inspire the advancement of primary care physicians’ understanding of regenerative medicine.
Dr. Friedlis is a pain management specialist, and has been practicing for over 25 years. He is considered to be a pioneer physician in the field of regenerative medical therapies. In his view, scientifically, regenerative medical therapies are demonstrating promise in reducing the pain from musculoskeletal injuries and degenerative conditions of the knee, shoulder, back, hip, and spinal joints and ligaments. Dr. Friedlis’ presentation is designed to educate primary care physicians about specific injection therapy techniques such as stem cell therapy, platelet rich plasma (PRP), platelet lysate, and prolotherapy. These advanced medical techniques are performed in a doctor’s office, often same day, and offer the patient the convenience and cost-savings of little down time. These procedures are rapidly becoming an alternative or method of deferral for expensive joint replacement surgeries of the knee and hip. He advocates for the use of Injection Therapy in non-invasive regenerative procedures, and the important role it plays in promoting more rapid healing through the use of your body’s own healing mechanisms with adult stem cells and blood platelets.
Dr. Friedlis frequently lectures on the subject of regenerative injection techniques, both nationally and internationally. He has been instrumental in bringing regenerative techniques to many countries throughout the world.
Dr. Friedlis is Past-President and sits on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine and co-chairs its Education Committee in Virginia. In addition, he was recently appointed to the prestigious American Society of Interventional Pain Practitioners'(ASIPP) Regenerative Medicine Committee. He has been honored by his peers who vote him a “Top Doctor” in WASHINGTONIAN Magazine and NORTHERN VIRGINIA Magazine. He has also appeared on FOX5-WTTG, WUSA9 and other news outlets.
Injection therapy techniques are rapidly being adopted as potential alternatives to invasive orthopedic techniques such a joint replacement surgery, or used as an adjunct to help a patient heal faster. Many patients say they seek and prefer these innovative, natural techniques to avoid the extensive recovery period that surgical procedures require. Joint replacements often need to be replaced approximately every 15-20 years. Hence, some patients may need multiple joint replacement surgeries over the course of their lifetimes.
The event location is the Shaw Auditorium, School of Public Health Building, Prince of Wales Hospital, Shatin, Hong Kong, N.T., People’s Republic of China. Event details and registration information can be found here.

Osgood Schlatter’s Disease (OSD) is very common in young adolescents, affecting millions of young people a year, and represents damage to the tendon to cartilage connection on the bony prominence just below the knee cap. If it does not respond quickly to sports limitation, it often leads to substantial alteration of sports ability/participation for a year or more, affecting career development, athlete confidence and self-esteem development and peer relationships for the young athlete. It also causes chronic pain and sports limitations even in adulthood in a substantial number of athletes as well as an obvious deformity. The OSD study that Dr. Reeves designed and published in conjunction with primary author Gaston Topol in Argentina was directed toward investigating the potential to cure OSD early, to decrease the above consequences.
