bio-large_mayofriedlisDr. Mayo Friedlis of Stem Cell Arts, an affiliate of National Spine and Pain Centers, has been named a Top Doctor for 2015 by Northern Virginia Magazine.  Dr. Friedlis is a pain management, rehabilitation and stem therapy specialist at StemCell ARTS, and serves as the Medical Director at National Spine and Pain Centers. The Top Doctor award is given to physicians who are rated as outstanding by their peers as well as by nine local hospitals in the Northern Virginia area.  Physicians selected for this prestigious award are evaluated based on peer review, internal evaluations, patient reviews, as well as overall quality of care.

Dr. Friedlis is responsible for introducing the most advanced stem cell and platelet regenerative therapies into the arsenal of treatment options now available at National Spine & Pain Centers and StemCell ARTS. He is considered one of the country’s foremost practitioner of Regenerative therapies for musculoskeletal injuries. While also skilled in conventional interventional techniques, Dr. Friedlis is one of few physicians in the Washington DC metropolitan area trained to perform Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, and is one of the first pioneering doctors in the area to use Stem Cell Therapy for musculoskeletal injuries. Over the past four years, Dr. Friedlis’ work has been showing positive results, particularly in the treatment of knee, hip and shoulder arthritis.

A frequent lecturer and educator on advanced pain management and regenerative therapies nationally and internationally, Dr. Friedlis has been instrumental in bringing regenerative techniques to many countries around the world. Passionate about treating underserved chronic pain patients, Dr. Friedlis regularly coordinates medical mission trips to in Central and Latin Americas sponsored by the prestigious American Association of Orthopedic Medicine (AAOM), where he currently sits as a member of AAOM’s Board of Directors. These missions provide much needed pain management services to poor, rural communities.

Dr. Friedlis was also recently appointed to the American Society of Interventional Pain Practitioners’ (ASIPPS’s) Regenerative Medicine Committee.
