Dr. Mayo Friedlis Invited By Chinese University of Hong Kong

Dr. Mayo Friedlis Invited By Chinese University of Hong Kong to Lecture Primary Care Physicians on “The Role of Injection Therapy in Musculoskeletal Intervention” on July 4, 2015

StemCell ARTS, an affiliate of National Spine & Pain Centers, is proud toannounce that Dr. Mayo Friedlis was invited to co-lead the esteemed “CUHK Primary Care Symposium 2015” on July 4, 2015 in Hong Kong, N.T, People’s Republic of China. Dr. Friedlis will present a Plenary Lecture on “Musculoskeletal Intervention of Primary Care Physicians: The Role on Injection Therapy”. His poster presentation intends to inspire the advancement of primary care physicians’ understanding of regenerative medicine.

Dr. Friedlis is a pain management specialist, and has been practicing for over 25 years. He is considered to be a pioneer physician in the field of regenerative medical therapies. In his view, scientifically, regenerative medical therapies are demonstrating promise in reducing the pain from musculoskeletal injuries and degenerative conditions of the knee, shoulder, back, hip, and spinal joints and ligaments. Dr. Friedlis’ presentation is designed to educate primary care physicians about specific injection therapy techniques such as stem cell therapy, platelet rich plasma (PRP), platelet lysate, and prolotherapy. These advanced medical techniques are performed in a doctor’s office, often same day, and offer the patient the convenience and cost-savings of little down time. These procedures are rapidly becoming an alternative or method of deferral for expensive joint replacement surgeries of the knee and hip. He advocates for the use of Injection Therapy in non-invasive regenerative procedures, and the important role it plays in promoting more rapid healing through the use of your body’s own healing mechanisms with adult stem cells and blood platelets.

Dr. Friedlis frequently lectures on the subject of regenerative injection techniques, both nationally and internationally. He has been instrumental in bringing regenerative techniques to many countries throughout the world.

Dr. Friedlis is Past-President and sits on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine and co-chairs its Education Committee in Virginia. In addition, he was recently appointed to the prestigious American Society of Interventional Pain Practitioners'(ASIPP) Regenerative Medicine Committee. He has been honored by his peers who vote him a “Top Doctor” in WASHINGTONIAN Magazine and NORTHERN VIRGINIA Magazine. He has also appeared on FOX5-WTTG, WUSA9 and other news outlets.

Injection therapy techniques are rapidly being adopted as potential alternatives to invasive orthopedic techniques such a joint replacement surgery, or used as an adjunct to help a patient heal faster. Many patients say they seek and prefer these innovative, natural techniques to avoid the extensive recovery period that surgical procedures require. Joint replacements often need to be replaced approximately every 15-20 years. Hence, some patients may need multiple joint replacement surgeries over the course of their lifetimes.

The event location is the Shaw Auditorium, School of Public Health Building, Prince of Wales Hospital, Shatin, Hong Kong, N.T., People’s Republic of China. Event details and registration information can be found here.

On The Snow Features Regenexx Stem Cell Treatments for ACL Injuries

On The Snow recently published this excellent article, showing that skiers are increasingly turning to Regenexx Stem Cell procedures to treat ACL injuries.

I entered the room where a Halloween-prop-sized needle was being cored down into the patient’s hip still skeptical that this procedure was “comfortable” and “painless” as I had read. But, after carrying on a conversation with the patient—who was, admittedly, doing much better than I at that moment, chatting calmly about feeling only pressure as the needle filled with blood—I exited the room a believer.

2013 Patient Outcome Data for Same Day Stem Cell Procedures

Click here to view the complete data by body part

As Regenexx Network Physicians, we’re part of the only stem cell treatment network to publish this type of analysis of patient outcome data. The analysis is made possible thanks to the massive numbers that have been accumulating for years in the Regenexx patient registry.

This patient outcome data is not part of a controlled trial. Every patient becomes part of a registry to track outcomes and any complications. This data is a compilation of patient input to the Regenexx Patient Registry at regular intervals following their Regenexx Procedure.

SnoCountry Features Stem Cell Treatments for ACL Injuries

A nice article was recently published at snocountry.com, questioning whether stem cell treatments for the ACL are a “quantum shift” in medicine. Stem cell therapy has shown promising results when compared to traditional surgeries for non-retracted ACL tears and injuries. We are proud to be on the leading edge of these new treatments and articles like these will become more commonplace as athletes become more aware of less invasive alternatives to heal common injuries.

Bob Wislow, 68; Bruce Snyder, 42; and Jacob Gillis, 19, all sought an alternative to surgery that enabled them to regain their high level of activity and remain pain free.

Snyder is a runner, cyclist, and weekend warrior, who tore his meniscus playing soccer. Colorado University student Jacob Gillis, 19, was skiing last spring when he landed awkwardly and heard a “pop” in his knee. An MRI of the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) showed a partial tear.
