Jennifer Allen

Treatment:  Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) / Pelvic Instability

jennifer_allen_videoJennifer Allen was a healthy, active tennis player and runner in her mid-thirties.  Five months of doctor-ordered bed rest due to a complicated pregnancy changed everything.

When Jennifer was finally allowed out of bed, the first thing she noticed was a searing pain in her hip. It didn’t matter if she was trying to play tennis or simply sitting on the couch, the pain was excruciating and eventually spread to her other hip, as well.

Traditional treatment started with a battery of tests that included MRIs, x-rays, a head exam, and tests for arthritis. Unable to identify the root cause of her pain, Jennifer went through repeated rounds of epidural injections, cortisone shots and two rounds of physical therapy. Unfortunately, these treatment methods only provided temporary relief.

Looking for a long-term solution to her pain, Jennifer sought out a consultation for Regenerative therapies.  The physician immediately recognized her problem and presented Jennifer with a diagnosis of “Pelvic Instability”, a common condition in women who have experienced child birth.  In Jennifer’s case, the ligaments that hold the pelvic bones had stretched and weakened during childbirth to the point where they were no longer stable—hence her debilitating pain.

The physician recognized that, to treat the “Pelvic Instability”, the ligaments needed to be strengthened in order to support her entire hip structure. The physician recommended Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

After five sessions of PRP, Jennifer says that she is “90% healed and pain-free.  It’s like a miracle to wake up in the morning and not experience excruciating pain anymore.”

Today, Jennifer is back to enjoying an active and healthy lifestyle, including running, tennis, low-impact sports, and keeping up with her young son.
